Some organizations, conferences and events only have time for Don’t Doubt the Dream and the impact of that session alone is profound. But whenever time permits, the Creating Positive Outcomes strategies training is the perfect follow up or breakout .

Beginning with challenging behaviors

Creating Positive Outcomes begins by addressing challenging behaviors – specifically, current research on the Conflict Cycle (Long) and the Acting Out Behavior Cycle (Walker, Colvin, Ramsey). The impact of such problems frequently impairs the ability to teach or parent effectively.

One key is to understand how we often unknowingly react to or get involved in a specific cycle which frequently escalates the problem. Adults will learn how they can respond more appropriately to challenging behaviors in ways that deescalate the problem.

Specific strategies are demonstrated for addressing disruptive and problem behaviors while keeping self esteem intact.

Learning styles

Jerry also integrates groundbreaking research on learning styles. For example, he introduces the important work of Dr. Dawna Markova, who identifies the natural patterns of intelligence we all use to organize, process, remember and create. By examining these patterns and individual profiles, adults will discover how we can best adapt our classrooms and homes to increase positive outcomes for everyone, in spite of our individual differences.

Best of all, Strategies

Finally, strategies are provided in four areas for assisting ALL students, including those with attention (AD/HD), learning (LD) and emotional (ED/BD) challenges.

These include strategies for:

1. Structuring the living/learning environment

2. Effective communication and the delivery of instruction

3. Assignment of and assistance with tasks

4. Developing resiliency and self esteem enhancement

Challenging Students.

Whatever the title, the goal is the same: to provide skills and specific strategies that adults can immediately apply when working with young people.

It’s the
